How To Carve Out Time For Everything You Want To Do

goals setting boundaries Feb 26, 2021

Do you ever feel like you just don’t have enough time in the day to do all the things that YOU really want to do?

What if you made some decisions around which of your own goals, aspirations, and passions really deserved more of your attention and you set boundaries to make those a priority?

Responsibilities are a part of life, but that doesn’t mean that all of those things always need to be a priority above what’s actually important to you. So in this video, I'm chatting about how to consciously say “yes” to making your goals and interests a priority. Because that's the only way that they will ever become a reality for you in your life. They have to have energy behind them in order to expand.

So if you wanna start choosing the life you want over what you're currently settling for, then it's time to carve out some time. Go ahead and watch the video to learn more about how you can start doing this.

Do you ever feel like you just don’t have enough time in the day to do all the things that YOU really want to do?

You’re just way too busy trying to keep up with the needs of your family, check all of the boxes on your to-do list, plan and make meals, stay healthy, keep the house clean, and all the things, right?

It’s like we’re always cramming everything in but then leaving no room for ourselves.

But what would happen if you actually did leave room for what was important to YOU?

What if you made some decisions around which of your own goals, aspirations, and passions really deserved more of your attention and you set boundaries to make those a priority?

I know a lot of the time we feel guilty if we try to put our own things above those of everyone else, but when we do that we’re not actually serving anyone well.

Because you’re not fully allowing yourself to be the best version of you when you do that.

You aren’t giving yourself the space to tap into your full potential or really be happy or fill your cup.

And instead, you just end up chasing never-ending tasks each day that don’t allow you to actually grow, improve, and expand.

So you suffer as a result of that and so does everyone around you. Not to mention the greater good that you could be impacting if you actually worked on your goals and aspirations that are in you for a reason.

Responsibilities are a part of life. Doing the dishes, taking the kids to school, and finishing your work on time are all just part of the game of life, yes.

BUT that doesn’t mean that all of those things always need to be a priority above what’s actually important to you.

It’s time to stop setting aside what you find meaningful in favor of what other people decide is important or “required.”

Only you can choose to make what you really want to be doing a priority and to set aside the time to actually do it.

If you want to spend more time learning to make jewelry and start selling it to others, then you have to consciously decide to give yourself the time for that.

If you want to start a journaling and meditation practice, then you’ve got to be willing to create the space you need to do it.

Every single time you tell yourself that it’s okay to push off what you want to be doing in favor of something else, you send a signal to your subconscious and to the universe that it’s not really that important. That you’re not actually serious about it. And that you’re accepting this mediocre space-filler over what you actually want.

You have to consciously say “yes” to making your goals and interests a priority.

Because that is the only way that they will ever become a reality for you in your life. They have to have energy behind them in order to expand.

So instead of pushing off that book that you may have always wanted to write, it’s time to set aside ten minutes each night or maybe half an hour on the weekend.

What you put energy toward will grow.

Think about that for a minute. What have you been putting your energy toward? The never-ending task list, the clients who don’t make you feel good, the nightly routine that keeps you up too late rather than recharging your energy?

When you deliberately decide that what’s in your heart IS a priority and you start acting like it, that’s when the needle will move.

That’s when the universe will know you’re serious and things will start shifting to fall into place.

And that’s when you’ll begin to feel your own energy shift as well.

As you do more of what makes you happy, more of what rejuvenates you, and more of what feels inspiring and purposeful.

So wouldn’t you rather see that needle move that one that’s just about check boxes that other people told you were important?

There’s a really big difference in how each of those feel, and when you make the shift in one area of your life, it’s powerful enough to change the way you show up in many others as well.

But you have to decide.

The first step is choosing. Look at the goals and aspirations that you have. Pick the one or two that most stand out to you right now and consider how you can carve out a portion of your week to start focusing on those.

Maybe that means just 15 minutes on the weekend for now. Maybe it means 5 minutes every night.

No matter what you decide it should be to start, make a decision and set boundaries around it. Tell yourself that it’s an appointment that you can’t afford to miss, and let others around you know that, too.

Give yourself some space away from distractions and energetically check-out from everything else for just that bit of time. And become only available to your commitment to yourself.

It might be hard to do this at first, but you’ve gotta retrain your mind to acknowledge that your priorities are the ones that truly matter. And when you put time and energy toward those, you are valuing yourself and others in the process.

Say it as a mantra as you get going if you need to, but just start.

And the more you just start showing up for yourself and saving this space, the more confidence you’ll gain to choose what’s right for you in all areas of your life without anyone else dictating it for you.

This is a big step, sweet friend. But I know you’re ready to stop spinning your wheels and start making progress on what your heart actually wants you to do.
